A “romantic” custom-built home on more than 3.5 acres in New York’s Westchester County hit the market this week for just under $5 million.
Located in Armonk, New York, about 35 miles north of Manhattan, the cedar-shake residence features a wraparound porch, a tennis or sports court, and a pool and spa with a stone surround, according to the listing with Stacey Oestreich and Nancy Strong of Douglas Elliman.
“This is a six-bedroom house, but it really lives like it has eight,” Ms. Oestreich said. “There are a lot of different nooks and crannies of living space to accommodate the myriad of different people now living in homes—the in-laws, different aged kids. The lower level is well thought out in terms of the big open space, but can have a lot of different things going, [including] an additional bedroom and bathroom. A house has to have the right layout and this one really speaks to that.”
Built in 1999, the property features a foyer with inlaid wooden floors, several fireplaces, a large formal dining room, an office or library, and a country kitchen with commercial-grade appliances and a breakfast bar, according to the listing.

“It’s a very romantic property…it has these open porches with views of the yard and the pool is surrounded in natural stone,” she said.
The underlying property last sold in 1995 for $450,000, according to property records. The sellers were not immediately available for comment.
