A contemporary oceanfront home in Gulf Stream, Florida—deemed the HGTV Ultimate House 2022—has hit the market for $31.499 million.
The 7,715-square-foot residence is set high above its 110-feet of water frontage, allowing for both privacy and far-reaching views of the ocean. Its prime location and extensive amenities helped the 2021 home garner the title of Ultimate House, which was based on over 1.1 million votes from HGTV viewers. The title was announced in August, according to Leading Real Estate Companies of the World, which oversees the contest.
“The overall winner is an elegant Florida estate on the Atlantic Ocean…which also earned top honors in the Beachfront Homes category,” according to a news release about the winners. “The artfully crafted Bermuda-style home stands 17 feet above sea level and features panoramic ocean views, a modern swimming pool with a stone deck, and a stunning interior with vaulted ceilings, oversized windows and a contemporary open plan.”
In addition, the home has floor-to-ceiling windows that bathe the interiors in natural light, according to listing agent Candace Friis of The Corcoran Group. She shares the listing with her son and colleague Phil Friis.
“The spaces are open and captivating,” Ms. Friis said. “It’s just very refreshing.”
Speaking of refreshment, the home offers a bar area at the front of the house to greet guests with a libation when they arrive, according to the agent.
“It’s very unique and quite lovely…the reception area is just breathtaking,” Ms. Friis said, noting there is also a 750-bottle glass-enclosed wine cellar adjacent to the bar.
The main floor boasts hardwood floors and wooden accents, plus bright white interiors with beamed ceilings, listing photos show. An eat-in kitchen has custom cabinetry, Wolf and Sub-Zero appliances and a walk-in pantry, and there’s an adjacent dining area and family room with access to a covered loggia with a full summer kitchen.
There are five bedrooms in the main house, with a ground-floor primary bedroom suite with two bathrooms and ocean views, the listing said. There’s also a private guest house with a kitchenette, Ms. Friis said.
“As you know, in Florida we get lots of visitors, so having a guest house that is its own separate entity is a very nice feature,” Ms. Friis said.
