A more than 115-year-old Seattle home once asking $7.5 million is headed to auction with no reserve on March 1, according to Concierge Auctions, which is handling the online sale.
The 8,882-square-foot Dutch colonial residence is located in the Queen Anne neighborhood, where the famed Space Needle can also be found. It boasts six bedrooms and seven bathrooms, as well as period details—including the original Dutch door—and bespoke woodwork and cabinetry throughout.
“Queen Anne is a highly coveted neighborhood in Seattle, particularly known as a family-friendly oasis,” listing agent Doreen Alhadeff of GBK, who also sold the home to the current owners, said in an email. “This estate has something for everyone, a chef’s kitchen that leads onto an extensive patio for al fresco dining, a third-floor recreation room and sun and garden rooms with picturesque windows.”
Ken and Jan Block have lived in the home since 1992, when they bought it for $1.425 million, according to records with PropertyShark.
“After living in this home for 30 years we’ll miss this charming Seattle landmark,” they said in an email. “[It]] was built for entertaining—some of our favorite memories are from hosting family and friends for events. We were truly able to make this home our own with modern updates and amenities, while still being committed to preserve its original grandeur.” A green lawn and mature plantings surround the stucco home, which also features a slate roof and rows of paned windows, listing photos show. Just inside, there’s a foyer with domed wood ceilings, a patterned floor and an intricate wood banister.
The living room has a fireplace and French doors leading outside, and a formal dining room with exposed ceiling beams and paneled walls with an Art-Deco inspired border. The kitchen features two sets of appliances, a butler’s pantry and a breakfast nook.
There’s also a wood-clad office, a sauna, a wine cellar and a main bedroom suite with tall ceilings, a seating area and a bathroom with dual vanities. There’s also a two-car garage.
The home was first listed in July 2020 for $7.5 million, and the price was dropped to the current asking price of $7 million in early February.
