It’s not an exaggeration to say that, less than a month into outdoor hospitality returning, we are bowing down to the concept of alfresco dining and drinking. After all, it’s just about all we can do! Well, for now that is. And, when the wind isn’t blowing too hard in our faces, it’s hard to complain. Heading to a rooftop to gaze over the city we love after five months of lockdown is a gift we’ll never take for granted again.
One thing we’ve definitely learned over the past couple of weeks is that many of you agree. How do we know? People have been voting with their feet; unsurprisingly packing out just about everywhere with an outdoor seat. So, a new rooftop addition to London’s newly reopened bar scene is always welcome.
Basically, the timing from the Standard Hotel couldn’t be better. They’re opening their all-new rooftop venue on May 1 in King’s Cross, and it looks like a belter of a spot to enjoy a cocktail-fuelled reunion.
Situated on the 11th floor of the hotel, above their Decimo restaurant, The Standard Rooftop aims to bring “the vibe of New York’s iconic rooftop bars to London”. While you may not get to bump heads with the Empire State Building as you look out, you will get a beautiful view of our iconic city, including a pretty spectacular backdrop of the city’s famous St Pancras Clock Tower. Not only that, but you’ll also get some NYC style hot dogs to line your stomach ready for wine on tap and a number of exquisite cocktails created by head bartender Eder Neto.
